About Us:
Texas PenCraft was born in October of 2006. A few months earlier I had purchased a small metal lathe (Taig Micro II) and was attempting to find projects that I could accomplish while at the same time these project endeavors would also teach me about the lathe and how to use it. One of these projects was a pen "kit" that I had seen in an advert in a hobby magazine. The idea of actually making a pen that would actually work was very intriguing. Well, the very first pen kit a tried to make was one of the easier projects and it actually came out quite nice. I was so surprised at this (I mean, who could make an ink pen that works, right?) that I ordered several more, a few were even a little more advanced and thus required a little more skill and finess. Some of these came out quite nice, but some didn't even come out. I actually destroyed a few by being unexperienced in many areas of learning and craftsmanship. By now, I knew I was hooked on the hobby because I quickly became enamoured with the idea of creating "one of a kind" pens and letting my imagination run amok. I especially liked the idea that there were so many diverse materials that could be used to make the body of the pen. I mean, the sky is literally the limit!
